Lee Chong Wei determined to make his last Olympic outing memorable – Badminton news
Lee Chong Wei, who is Malaysia’s top bet for a medal at the upcoming London Olympics, is determined to make his last outing memorable as he is missing an Olympic gold in his achievements and is putting in his best effort to complete his legacy.
The 29-year-old Chong Wei, who has just recovered from a serious ankle injury that almost hampered his chances to participate in Olympics, is feeling good at the moment as he made incredible progress in his recovery process.
The World Number Two Chong Wei has been heavily using porridge and hot soup in his daily diet and has surprised everyone by recuperating from his injury in much less time than expected and is ready to put up strong show in mega event.
The Beijing Olympics silver medallist Chong Wei, who remained away from competitions since the last week of May, paced up his training almost 10 days ago at Bath, England.
The Malaysia’s hero is now fit enough to play at Olympics despite the fact that he is working hard to get a felling of this mega event.
While talking about his target at London Olympics, Chong Wei said that he is looking forward to win a medal as it is going to be his last participation at Olympics.
He stated, “I have just come back from injury and there is less pressure. But it is my last Olympics so I want to win a medal for my country. I don’t feel the pressure but there is still a week. Maybe when I get to London I will start to feel the Olympic
feeling and maybe then I will feel the pressure.”
He further added, “A gold medal will validate my career. I don’t have an Olympic gold medal, my country doesn’t have an Olympic gold medal, this gold is important for me and for my country.”
Chong Wei is the only shuttler from Malaysia who has better chances to win a gold medal in Men’s Singles category as he has got the guts to tame the formidable Chinese shuttlers who are heavy favourites for the medal.
