Malaysia’s best male shuttler Lee Chong Wei eases into Men’s Singles quarter-final after beating India’s young shuttler Sai Praneeth B. in the round-of-16 contest at Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold 2012 at Johor Bahru, Malaysia, Thursday, May 3.
The top seed in the world rankings Chong Wei showed his class as he did not consume much time in the court and sent Indian packing in just 23 minutes.
Chong Wei, who suffered with a shocking defeat from the hands of Korea’s Shon Wan Ho in the last week’s India Open Super Series, seems that he has forgotten his bad experience in just a few days.
He displayed a superb show of top class game and entertained his Malaysian fans with his impressive craft.
On the other hand, Praneeth failed to continue his winning run in the tournament as he was no match to Chong Wei, who is among the best shuttlers in the world.
Chong Wei started the opening game in an attacking manner as he played with aggression and did not let Praneeth to find a good rhythm.
Until the 60-second interval, the top seeded Malaysian was progressing with an impressive speed as he created a gap of 11-5 on the board.
After the break, Praneeth tried to accelerate his speed to take the bird timely but failed to create gaps as his higher ranked opponent was moving with an incredible speed.
Chong Wei sailed smoothly as he did not face any trouble from Praneeth in the first game and he won it with a comfortable score of 21-12.
In the second game, Chong Wei did not drop his speed and continued his dominating position in the court. He took comfortable lead in the game by reaching at 11-5.
After the break, Chong Wei cheered his fans by playing fabulous shots with wonderful deception and stretched his lead with a remarkable ease.
The World Number One remained positive in the game and easily bagged it with a sensational 21-13 score on the board.
Chong Wei ousted Praneeth in two games with a one-sided score of 21-12 and 21-13.
He will take on his compatriot Wei Feng Chong in the Men’s Singles quarter-final showdown.
