Lee Chong Wei hammers Chen Jin in Men’s Singles semi-final of the 2011 World Championships
Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei powered his way into the Men’s Singles final of the 2011 World Championships for the first time as he hammered Chen Jin of China, at the Wembley Arena in London, England, on Saturday, August 13.
The World Number One Malaysian mega star is chasing for the Men’s Singles title at the world meet and if he achieves the target, then he will become the first World Champion from Malaysia. He proved his skills in the semi-final battle against the defending
champion, Chen Jin and finished-off the fight in straight-sets with the score of 21-13 and 21-9.
In the opening game, the Malaysian remained in a lead throughout the game by playing positive badminton. His smooth movement in the court coupled with perfectly places strokes put him ahead of his opponent and he finished-off the set with a convincing score
of 21-13.
In the second set, the Chinese played better badminton and reached at 7-3 when the Malaysian geared up his pace and scored seven points in a row. He became aggressive in the second-half of the set and won it with a dramatic margin of 21-9.
After winning the semi-final match, Chong Wei said, “We were both patient, and then I started to play my game. I have prepared well at Bath university for two weeks and was at my best against him today.”
He further added, “It will be my first world final and I really want to win the title.”
In the final showdown of the World Championships, Chong Wei will be up against either China’s mega star, Lin Dan, who is ruling Olympic Champion and three-time world champion or Peter Hoeg Gade of Denmark, who is currently having the world ranking of Number
Three.
People from all over the world want to see the final of the World Championships between Lin Dan and Chong Wei, as it will be a dream final involving two of the most successful shuttlers in the history of badminton.
