Lee Chong Wei hammers Hu Yun in the Men’s Singles semi-final of the India Open Super Series 2011
Malaysia’s top seed and World Number 1, Lee Chong Wei defeated Hu Yun of Hong Kong in the Men’s Singles semi-final of the India Open Super Series 2011, in India on April 30.
The top seed consumed only 27 minutes to beat Yun, who defeated R.M.V Gurusai Datt of India, in the quarter-final of the event. In the final, Chong Wei will be fighting against the third seed, Peter Hoeg Gade of Denmark who crushed Sung Hwan Park of Korea
in the semi-final. 
The top seed opened the game in a convincing way and scored three points in a row. Yun matched the speed of Chong Wei and levelled the score by taking three consecutive points. Both shuttlers were putting up a great show of quality badminton in front of
the packed indoor arena in New Delhi. The Malaysian accelerated his speed and occupied the driving seat of the game. He scored five consecutive points to make it a good lead of 11-5.
After the break, the World Number 1 remained on the right track and extended his lead by reaching 13-5. Yun tried to reduce the huge difference, but failed as Chong Wei was playing on a different level. The Malaysian grabbed the opening set in just 12 minutes
with a big difference of 21-11.
The second set started in a thrilling way as both shuttlers remained toe-to-toe by playing at the same pace. The score was 4-4, where the top seed geared up his speed and established a 5-point lead of 10-5. At the end of the first part of the set, Chong
Wei was leading the game with a clear margin of 11-6.
After the one-minute rest, Yun demonstrated a wonderful game by playing at maximum speed and reduced the gap by reaching 13-14. However, Chong Wei accelerated his speed at the net and tried to keep the bird low. The World Number 1 finished the second set
in a superb fashion with a 21-15 margin, in just 15 minutes. The finishing score of this 27-minute semi-final was 21-11 and 21-15.
