Lee Chong Wei intends to put on a show for SGS PLN Badung club
The world’s top badminton player, Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, will be in action in the Indonesia Badminton Super League tournament and also the 2011 Chinese Badminton Club Super League after the 2011 All England Premier Super Series event at Birmingham, England.
The Malaysian player is the first of the top ten players of men’s singles category who will play two super leagues.
The former World and Olympic champion, Taufiq Hidayat of Indonesia, invited his friend, Wei to play from his club, the SGS PLN Bandung club in the Indonesia Badminton Super League. The Malaysian accepted the invitation and is willing to help his friend’s
team to win the league. The Malaysian player will remain busy in Malaysia from the 18th to the 21st February in National Grand Prix title, where he will be contesting with the top Malaysian singles players to defend his title.
The General Manager of Badminton Association of Malaysia, Mr. Kenny Goh is confident that Wei’s participation in the Indonesian Badminton Super League will not disturb his training, as the world number one will play only two matches for the SGN PLN Bandung
Club. The club has also tried to get the services of Lin Dan from China, but was busy in his home event of the 2011 Chinese Badminton Club Super League.
Along with SGN PLN Bandung Club, there will be Mutiara Bandung, Jaya Raya Jakarta, Tangkas Alfamart Jakarta, Jayaraya Suryanaga Surabaya, Musica Champions Kudus and Djarum Kudus all contending for the title. Almost all of these Indonesian clubs contain a
combination of local and foreign players which will keep the quality of the game quite high. Top players of the badminton arena will also serve as a motivating force for the younger players of Indonesia.
The major contest of Taufiq’s club in the Indonesia Badminton Super League will be against the defending champion Jayaraya Suryanaga Surabaya and the Musica Champions Kudus with top Malaysian singles players Wong Choong Hann and Hafiz Hashim. Bandung Club
is among the favourites, due to the availability of Lee Chong Wei. The main singles players of the club will be Taufiq Hidayat, Lee Chong Wei, Alamsyah Yunus and Tommy Sugiarto.
The world number one will play in Indonesia for two days and then return to Malaysia to continue his training for the coveted event of the 2011 All England Premier Super Series, to be held between the 8th and the 13th of March in Birmingham,
England. Wei will next head to China where he will assist his team of the Zhejiang province to win the 2011 Chinese Badminton Club Super League. His friend, Hidayat from Indonesia, will be competing in the Chinese League for the team of Guangdong.
The inclusion of Wei in the Indonesian Super League, will add considerable excitement to all the fans of badminton, as the world number one player promises to put on an exhilarating show.
