Lee Chong Wei is a strong man and will remain focused in his Olympic Preparations, says Tey Seu Bock
Malaysia’s national coach Tey Seu Bock said that the top seed Lee Chong Wei is a strong man and despite having many problems he will remain focused in his preparation for Olympic Games 2012, which is less than 50 days away.
Chong Wei, who is currently number one in the world in Men’s Singles category, has been suffering with uncharacteristic injuries for the last few months and is currently getting recovered from an ankle injury he received in Thomas Cup Finals last month.
Not only injuries are creating problems in his preparation for Olympic Games, he is also facing severe family problems as well. His father, Lee Ah Chai tried to commit suicide yesterday but was saved by the police men in Penang.
It was a shocking blow for his preparation as it is quite difficult for him to remain focused to his Olympics preparations.
However, Seu Bock said that he is a strong man and will not let his problems come in his way to win his first ever gold in Olympic Games.
The coach also said that he should be given space and also should be left alone to deal with his private matters by himself.
Seu Bock said, “Chong Wei is a strong person and he will continue to stay focused in his preparation for the London Games. He deserves his privacy as he has sacrificed so much for the sport and brought glory to the country. He should be left alone to deal
with his private matters.”
Chong Wei is rapidly recovering from injury and has started light training. The coach is optimistic that he will start full training sessions and will be back on track before Olympic Games.
The coach said “We don’t know when he will be able to begin full-time training but it is good to see little improvements. What he needs right now is positive support so he can focus on the Olympics.”
According to the coach, Chong Wei needs to become fully fit before Olympic Games to face the strong line-up of Chinese shuttlers who will go all out to deny him his first ever gold medal in the mega event.
