Lee Chong Wei looking to employ his amazing skills at the 2011 World Championships
Malaysia’s World Number One Men’s Singles shuttler, Lee Chong Wei, has now attained the highest level of skills in net play as he has a variety of points in the area, and the player is looking forward to use this weapon at the 2011 World Championships.
The event will start from August 8, at the Wembley Indoor Arena, in London. The 28-year-old Chong Wei, who is the top seed in the Men’s Singles draw of the mega event, attended a training session in the Hall of Preston Manor High School and his major focus
was to sharpen his net play.
Chong Wei trained with the help of Rashid Sidek, as Tey Seu Bock and Chan Kwong Beng also worked to refine his net play, which will earn him a considerable advantage over all other shuttlers in the world of badminton.
The coach, Tay Seu said that Chong Wei has attained a certain level of skill at the net and it is because of the untiring effort of the shuttler that he will bear the fruit in the mega event. Tey Seu said, “It can be quite mundane to do it repeatedly for
hours every day but he does it without fail. Now, he has even developed a few tricks to outfox his opponents.”
Ng Chin Chai, manager of Malaysian squad appreciated the perfect net play as the shuttler was executing tumbling net strokes. Ng said, “This clearly shows his consistency and quality. He has amazing wrist work.”
While talking about the skills of China’s Lin Dan, the manager said, “China’s Lin Dan relied on showed speed and power en route to winning the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games but, since then, he has also mastered the art of precision at the net.”
Chong Wei expressed with a smile that he is good at the net and he thinks Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia also plays superb strokes in the same area. Chong Wei is expected to end the long title draught for Malaysia at the World Championships, as no shuttler
from the nation has ever tasted victory in this mega event so far.
