Lee Chong Wei maintains prestigious position in Badminton world – Badminton feature
There are only a few shuttlers who are considered complete from all aspects of the game and Malaysia World Number One player Lee Chong Wei holds a respectable place in this lot. He has been showing a steady performance over the years that shows how much
effort he puts in to remain at the top in badminton world.
Resulting from the untiring hard work and years of disciplined life have made Chong Wei one of the greatest shuttlers of all times as he has proved his worth in almost every major tournament except World Championships where he always remained unlucky to
break the deadlock.
In the last two editions of Olympics Games, Chong Wei defied all odds and remained successful in making it to the finals but remained unlucky to win the gold medal losing to China’s Lin Dan on both occasions. However, winning two silver medals in a row is
an incredible achievement in itself that no other shuttler in Men’s Singles category has ever achieved.
In the recent Denmark Open Premier Super Series 2012 that ended in Odense on October 21, Chong Wei proved that he is the best in business as he played remarkably well throughout the tournament. He showed no sign of confusion all the way and grabbed the Men’s
Singles title to stamp his supremacy in the arena.

class in the world of badminton.

showing even a least amount of mercy.
Next in line was Boonsak Ponsana from Thailand who remained successful in winning the Singapore Open Super Series 2012. Chong Wei continued his killing performance on court against his Thai rival and remained successful in giving him a severe treatment and
eased into the Men’s Singles quarter-final.
Another Malaysian shuttler Daren Liew was the opponent of Chong Wei at the top-eight stage. The top seed was quite comfortable on court as he knew the game and tactics of his country-mate and he did not face any considerable trouble in grabbing victory in
this match in straight games with a comfortable margin.
In the Men’s Singles semi-final, Chong Wei was up against the local shuttler Jan O Jorgensen who was in tremendous form. Malaysian shuttler was had to work hard in the opening set and took it with a close margin but he did not show any mercy to Jorgensen
in the second game and easily won the battle in straight sets.
In the title match of the tournament, Chong Wei locked horns against Du Pengyu who created an upset by beating his higher ranked compatriot and second seeded shuttler Chen Long in the semi-final clash.
Chong Wei failed to maintain his rhythm in the opening set but he powered his way back into the match and took the following both games with a decent margin and emerged as the title winner by ending up the final battle in three sets.
