Lee Chong Wei not hundred percent confident to deliver in India Open because of his shoulder injury
Malaysia’s World Number 1 shuttler Lee Chong Wei, who got an in injury in his right shoulder in All England Open Premier Super Series last month, is not hundred percent confident to deliver up to expectations in the upcoming India Open Super Series 2012,
starting from April 24-29 in India.
Chong Wei will be defending champion at the India Open as he won the opening edition of this Super Series tournament last year.
The Malaysian was forced to leave the court midway in the title match in last month’s All England Open when his injury started to aggravate.
After that, he did not participate in any tournament and will play in India Open in the last week of current month.
Although Chong Wei’s doctors have allowed his co participate in the tournaments but he is not feeling at his best.
He has also been playing well in training sessions for the last few days and is feeling good at the moment as there is no pain in his shoulder anymore.
However, he is still shaky as it is Olympic year and he does not want to receive any sort of injury again as it can hamper his chances to win the gold medal at London Olympics.
He said, "I fear for my shoulder. I am heading for the India Open where I will use it (the tournament) to gauge my performance ahead of the Thomas Cup and Olympics."
He further added, "My recovery is going according to schedule and training has been good so far. I am excited about going to New Delhi to play in my first event since the All England."
India Open will be the last tournament which will award precious ranking points for the London Olympics as the qualifying period will end on May 2.
That is why all top players in the world of badminton will compete in this tournament to grab ranking points for getting a good seeding in Olympics Games.
Chong Wei will defend his title in India Open and players from China, Korea, Indonesia and Denmark and Japan will be his main contenders for the title.
