Lee Chong Wei not worried with the Great Wall of China at Olympic Games 2012
Chinese shuttlers are considered the best in the world but Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei is not worried at all with the Great Wall of China including Lin Dan, Chen Long and Chen Jin at Olympic Games 2012, which will be held in England in July-August.
The World Number 1 Chong Wei, who has been beating all these Chinese shuttlers on numerous occasions for the last four years, is ready to chuck out them in the mega event as he is determined to win the title.
Chong Wei is expected to remain at the top in Men’s Singles seeding in Olympics and his nemesis and ruling Olympic Champion Lin will be in the bottom half of the draw.
Either Jin or Long will be in his way to the final of Olympics where Chong Wei is expected to meet Lin, who will be the favourite to win the title again.
Jin has recently found a good flow as he has virtually qualified for Olympic Games by winning three titles in row including Swiss Open GP Gold, Australian Open GP Gold and Badminton Asia Championships.
However, Chong Wei has defeated him on several occasions and is not worried about him at all.
Nevertheless, Chong Wei also said that it has become a routine for him to face Chinese shuttlers in his way in every major tournament.
He added, “But I have gotten used to going up against an army of China players in a tournament. Lin Dan and I will be in separate halves of the draw at the Games while either Chen Jin or Chen Long will be in my half. So it doesn’t really make much difference.”
But he admits that having three shuttlers in the Men’s Singles draw will certainly give China a psychological edge over all other players.
He said, “Yes, China will surely have the psychological edge with three representatives. Chen Jin has done well of late, winning three back-to-back titles. China have strategised well to get three players in the Olympics.”
Currently, Chong Wei is currently busy in India Open Super Series 2012, which is in progress at New Delhi, India.
