Lee Chong Wei positive to achieve major targets in current year – Badminton news
Malaysia’s top shuttler Lee Chong Wei is quite positive to achieve his major target this year as he wants to win his third consecutive title at the All England Premier Super Series, starting from March 6 in England, and his first ever title at the Olympic
Games, which will kick off in London, from the last week of July.
In order to achieve these two bigger targets, Chong Wei, who is ruling World Number One in Men’s Singles, is working hard and is looking forward to increase the intensity of training to become well prepared.
The 29-year-old Chong Wei is quite focused and determined to put up superb show in the next month’s All England Open and complete his hat-trick as he has nailed the last two editions of this prestigious tournament.
Chong Wei has been delivering impressive performance for the last three years and did not go down form the top position in this prolonged period, which clearly indicates how much serious he is in the pursuit of his goals.
Despite winning all Super Series tournaments in the arena of badminton, Chong Wei always remained unlucky in winning a title in World Championships and Olympic Games, the two major tournaments missing in his legacy.
However, he is determined to win the gold medal at Olympic Games this year and is also serious to win his third successive title at All England Open.
He said, “I have won it for the last two years and plan to get it right again. The draw will be out tomorrow but I am not too concerned about my opponents.”
He further added, “I intend to beef up my preparation and continue to focus on my physical condition. The ultimate goal is to strike it right at the Olympics and, together with my coach Tey Seu Bock, we will continue to look into ways to further enhance
my training programme.”
Chong Wei started the current year in a perfect fashion as he clinched the Men’s Singles titles in the opening two Super Series tournaments including Korea Open Premier Super Series and Malaysia Open Super Series.
Now the Malaysian tiger is preparing to pounce on top athletes in the arena at the upcoming All England Open.
