Lee Chong Wei proves his supremacy after winning fourth title in Indonesia – Badminton news
World Number One Men’s Singles shuttler, Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei, stamped his supremacy in the world of badminton as he clinched his fourth title in Indonesia by winning the Indonesia Open Premier Super Series 2011, on Sunday, June 26, 2011.
The top seed Malaysian is enjoying his remarkable winning streak this year, as he has bagged six Men’s Singles titles of major events in the first six months. Chong Wei’s successive wins in major tournaments indicate that he is a complete shuttler in all
aspects of the game.
In the final of the Indonesia Open, Chong Wei was miles ahead of Denmark’s Peter Hoeg Gade, who is also one of the most famous shuttlers in the world. The 28-year-old Malaysian took only 31 minutes to hammer Peter Gade in a straight-set match in front of
the huge Indonesian crowd, who was supporting Chong Wei.
The World Number One clinched his third consecutive title at the Indonesia Open, proving that he is the best in the business.
After defeating the Danish shuttler in the final, Chong Wei said, “I have played Peter so many times and I know his game by heart. He is a good player but today, I had good control of the match and managed to pull off one of my easiest match against him.”
He further added, “I did expect him to stage a fight back in the second game like he used to because Peter is always a fighter but I guess after trailing 4-16 he just gave up.”
While talking about his performance this year, Chong Wei added, “I have won six titles in six months and that feels good. I will continue to stay focused in my mission to win the country’s first world title.”
Chong Wei is in superb form and is the only shuttler from Malaysia, who can end his country’s title draught by winning the Men’s Singles title at the 2011 World Championship, which will take place in London, from August 8-14.
