Lee Chong Wei ready to hunt Men’s Singles title at the 2011 Japan Open Super Series – Badminton news
World Number One, Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia is ready to win the Men’s Singles title at the 2011 Japan Open Super Series, which will kick-off on September 20, in Tokyo, Japan.
The 28-year-old Chong Wei has got rid of the disappointment for losing the final of the 2011 World Championships to his arch rival, Lin Dan of China. He is now focused on the upcoming Japan Open where he is expected to get a chance for a prompt revenge from
Lin, as the Chinese will also be there as a main contender for the title.
Tey Seu Bock, the national coach for Men’s Singles, expressed that Chong Wei is determined to dominate in the Japan Open. The shuttler has played eight tournaments so far, and reached in the finals of all events. He clinched six titles, whereas, he lost
two finals and on both occasions, it was Lin who defeated the World Number One.
Seu Bock said, “Chong Wei is a professional and he has managed to overcome the disappointment in the World Championships. Life has to go on and he hopes to be at his best again in the Japan Open.”
While talking about the matches of Chong Wei in the upcoming tournament, Seu Bock added that the shuttler has some challenging encounters in the early round of the Men’s Singles category.
The Coach said, “However, he has some tough matches ahead and I wouldn't want to talk about a possible final against Lin Dan. Chong Wei has not played Wang Zhengming (of China) for some time now and there are other good players. He will also play in the
Denmark and French Opens next month and it is going to be tough weeks for him.”
After the Japan Open, Chong Wei will participate in two back-to-back events including the 2011 Denmark Open Premier Super Series, which is set to take place from October 18-23 in Denmark and the 2011 French Open Super Series, which will kick-off in France
from October 25-30.
