Lee Chong Wei remains focused to continue his winning streak in the India Open Super Series 2011
Malaysian men’s singles shuttler, Lee Chong Wei remains focused to continue his winning run at International level and will next be participating in the India Open Super Series 2011, which will kick off from April 26, 2011. He is working hard in training
under the supervision of renowned coaches including, Rashid Sidek and Tey Seu Bock.
Chong Wei is not participating in the Kuala Lumpur Open starting from the upcoming week but will participate in the home event of the Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold 2011, which will take place at Alor Setar, Malaysia from May 3, 2011.
The current Olympic Gold medalist, Lin Dan of China and his compatriot Chen Jin, who is the ruling World Champion, are not participating in the India Open. This leaves Chong Wei with a great opportunity to win the title without facing Lin Dan in the competition.
The other top shuttlers in the event are Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia, Peter Hoeg Gade of Denmark, Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand and Sung Hwan Park of Korea.
The absence of the world number one from the Kuala Lumpur Open provides a great opportunity for the back-up players to win the local title and earn better standings in the national rankings of Malaysia. Arif Latif, Liew Darren, Chan Kwong Beng and Tan Chun
Seang will be the major contenders for the title in men’s singles category.
The men’s singles coach, Rashid Sidek believes Chong Wei is the most dominating performer in men’s singles in all major International events and he is showing no signs of slowing down. He also expressed that the win over Lin Dan in the final match of the
All England Premier Super Series 2011 has increased the confidence of Chong Wei as a result of which he will certainly perform well in the upcoming event of India Open.
Apart from Chong Wei, there are some other Malaysian shuttlers who will be competing in the qualifying round of the India Open. Among these men’s singles qualifiers from Malaysia are Liew Darren and Tan Chun Seang.
