Lee Chong Wei remains on track to win Men’s Singles title at the 2011 BWF Super Series Finals
Malaysia’s most successful shuttler and top seed, Lee Chong Wei, has been playing remarkable badminton in the whole current year and wants to end it in style. He is on the right track to get into next stage of the 2011 BWF Super Series Final, which is in progress at Liu Zhou, in China.
Chong Wei, who is currently World Number One in the world standings, has won both of his round matches and will face Denmark’s Peter Hoeg Gade in the third and final match of Group A.
The 29-year-old Chong Wei, who is also regarded as ‘King of Super Series’, has won the last three editions of this Super Series Finals and is determined to win the title for the fourth time.
In his opening match, he faced Kenichi Tago of Japan and remained successful in winning the fight in three games. It was a wonderful match between both elite shuttlers however, the Malaysian found his flow to end up the fight as a winner.
In the following fight, the Malaysian was up against Simon Santoso of Indonesia. Chong Wei showed no mercy to the Indonesian and finished the match in straight games without facing any considerable resistance.
In the third match of Group A, Chong Wei will take on Peter Gade and if he wins, he will finish at the top in his group and will face Chen Long of China at the semi-final stage.
Chong Wei said, “All the players are eyeing my scalp. It is not easy to keep on winning but I will try to maintain my good run. I have lost only to Lin Dan and Chen Long this year ... I don’t intend to give Peter the privilege of being the third player to beat me this year.”
While talking about his preparation for the title, Chong Wei said that it is not only physical battle but he has to be mentally tough to win this title.
He said, “It is more about mental tiredness rather than physical ... but I am fine. This is my last tournament and all I need is to give it one final push. Then, I can take a short break before the new season begins.” he said.
However, Chong Wei knows that his main opponents will be Chen Long and Lin Dan, who are also in good shape to win the title.
