Lee Chong Wei stretches his winning run at Yonex Denmark Open Premier Super Series 2012
Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei lived up to the expectations as he stretched his winning run and reached into Men’s Singles quarter-final after showing exit to Thailand’s experienced player Boonsak Ponsana in second round battle at the Yonex Denmark Open Premier
Super Series 2012 on Thursday, October 18, in Denmark.
The impressive Chong Wei, who is World Number One and also placed at the top in Men’s Singles seeding in the tournament, showed up his incredible craft on court and finished off the battle in just 33 minutes.
Chong Wei has been showing up his tremendous class for the last five years and remained one of the most consistent shuttlers in the world of badminton.
In the second round of Denmark Open, the Malaysian hero put up superb show of fast and flawless badminton and easily overpowered Ponsana in straight games with a comfortable score on the board.
On the other hand, the World Number 21 Ponsana failed to continue his winning performance as he could not create any trouble for his higher ranked challenger and eventually went down in a vulnerable fashion.
In the first game, it was Chong Wei who showed a tremendous performance on court by playing with speed and perfection and remained miles ahead until the end of first half.
In the concluding part, Chong Wei did not show any mercy to his experienced Thai shuttler and maintained the pace of rallies at the maximum level.
Malaysian shuttler stayed in commanding position throughout the opening game and won it with a stunning 21-11 score on the board.
In the following set, Ponsana also showed glimpses of his brilliance as he played with remarkable precision and managed to stay close to Chong Wei in the opening half.
However, the Thai player failed to maintain his positive play as his opponent started to inject more pace into rallies.
The top seeded Chong Wei geared up his speed in the concluding phase of second game and he easily finished off the set with a 21-16 score on the board.
Chong Wei won this second round contest in a dictating manner with a striking margin of 21-11 and 21-16.
