Lee Chong Wei to skip Kuala Lumpur Open and gets ready for India Open
Recently, Lee Chong Wei, the World Number One Men’s Singles badminton player and the most celebrated figure of Malaysia, has declared that he is not going to participate in the Kuala Lumpur Open 2011 which will be taking place on 7 April to 11 April. He further stated that although he is not participating in the tournament, but he is determined to participate in the India Open which will start from 26 April and will come to an end on 1 May.
This absence of Chong Wei from the Kuala Lumpur Open has cleared the way for Tan Chun Seang and Liew Daren. Similarly, Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif, as well as Chan Kwong Beng is also in a good position for proving their worth in the tournament. Now, it is up to these back-up shuttlers to prove themselves the best badminton players for participation in the international tournaments.
As Chong Wei has skipped the Kuala Lumpur Open tournament, but he will not miss the India Open tournament because the tournament is a World Super Series event. The entries for the India Open closed on Monday, but the most notable news about this tournament in India is the absence of the Chinese players who are ruling over the badminton arena at this time.
Lin Dan, who is the former Olympic Champion and Chen Jin, who is the former World Champion, both will be absent from the India Open because the badminton players from China have not shown an interest in this tournament without describing any reason. This absenteeism of the top Chinese shuttlers has again ensured the top position of Chong Wei. Although, many other top shuttlers of the world like Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia, Boonsak Ponsana from Thailand, and Park Sung-Hwan from South Korea will be participating in the India Open. However, their presence is not disturbing for Chong Wei because when he plays in his traditional style, no player can compete with his tough strokes.
Chong Wei has won many international titles in this year without receiving training from his favourite coach Misbun Sidek. This self struggle of Chong Wei also makes him prominent from the other top shuttlers of the world.
