Lee Chong Wei under pressure before 2012 Olympic Games – Badminton news
The competition is getting tougher for Malaysia’s ace shuttler, Lee Chong Wei, as the 2012 Olympic Games are approaching closer. The Malaysian has suffered two consecutive defeats from the hands of Chen Long of China, which has put a dent to his title hope
in the mega event.
Two successive defeats against the same shuttler have created problems for the World Number One, Chong Wei, as he is bidding to win the Men’s Singles title at the Olympic Games.
Chong Wei Lost to Chinese in the final of the Japan Open Super Series and in the title match of the Denmark Open Premier Super Series. Long won the final in Denmark in straight games that has put a question mark over the winning form of Chong Wei.
The Malaysian said, “Chen Long is playing very confidently. The quality of his game has improved. I cannot take him lightly any more. The challenges are getting tougher as the Olympic Games get closer ... I have to be wary.”
Tey Seu Bock, the national coach for singles, also appreciated the Chinese for winning the final of the Denmark Open. While talking about the growing strength of China against the Malaysian shuttler, the coach said that there are many Chinese shuttlers who
are doing well. If one loses, the other performs well and wins glory.
The coach said, “If Lin Dan loses, another one is waiting to strike. And they have an indepth knowledge of Chong Wei’s game.”
Seu Bock said that Chong Wei needs to train harder and eliminate his loop holes to become a perfect shuttler for the Olympic Games. However, he said that the shuttler needs some time to get his winning form back as his schedule has been quite hectic so far,
in the current year.
The World Number One is participating in the French Open Super Series, which is starting on October 26, in Paris, France. He is expected to face Chen Long again in the Men’s Singles semi-final of the event, which will be his third meeting with the Chinese
in the last five weeks.
