Lee Chong Wei under the clutches of psychological pressure – Badminton News
World Number One Malaysian shuttler, Lee Chong Wei, remains completely unable to get rid of his greatest rival Lin Dan (China), who always blocks his way in major tournaments.
In the 2011 Korea Open super series premier event, Chong Wei once again failed to beat the invincible Chinese. The time and again defeats of the best player in the world from the hands of three times World Champion and ruling Olympic Champion, Lin Dan, has
made the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) quite worried.
In their 22 meetings, the Chinese leads with a big margin of 15-7. Lee Chong Wei has always struggled against the 27-year-old shuttler from China, who won the World Championships in 2006, 2007 and 2009. He also secured the Olympic title in 2008. For the
last six years, the Chinese dominated the Malaysian player in key matches. In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Chong Wei, was bitterly stung by the Chinese who finished the match in straight-sets. In the final match of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the Malaysian hero
was quite helpless against the firing Lin Dan.
The worries of BAM also increased when Misbun Sidek e-mailed his resignation to the officials. Misbun worked very hard on Lee Chong Wei and made him a world class player but he also could not make the World Number One good enough, to get rid from the clutches
of Lin Dan, who is the most appreciated player of the decade. In the 2011 Korea Open super series premier, the Chinese shuttler was not in his best form but he proved that he is the best fighter and can do miracles in any situation.
Chong Wei played tremendous Badminton before leaving for South Korea. He won two back-to-back major titles in 2011, in just a period of two weeks. His smooth run was destroyed by the reigning Olympic gold medallist, Lin Dan. Lee Chong Wei is one of the best
players who are complete in the technical and tactical aspects of the game. It seems that he gets the psychological pressure over the Chinese.
BAM officials are hopeful that their coach, Misbun Sidek, will rejoin them again shortly. Director of BAM, Datuk James Selvaraj, is quite hopeful about the success of the Chong Wei in the London Olympics coming in the next year. He said that Misbun Sidek
will rejoin them in a few days and a very important training plan for Chong Wei will be made for a better performance in the 2012 London Olympics.
Both players are the best from every aspect of the game, as both have an extensive experience of international badminton. Chong Wei proved his worth in the absence of Lin Dan and when these two players come in the court against each other, it is the Chinese
who is considered as the favourite before the match. He will keep the hopes of the people alive by delivering a terrific performance against the Malaysian.
A major question that is staining the achievements of the Malaysian is that he is yet to win both mega events of the World Championships and Olympics. It is left to whether Lee Chong Wei would win the Olympic gold and the World Championship title in the
presence of Lin Dan. According to the ongoing state of affairs, the task seems quite difficult, as he is still under the shadows of psychological pressure put by the superb Chinese wonder.
