Malaysia’s mega star in Badminton Lee Chong Wei wants his all team-mates to deliver their best which can earn them positive results in the Thomas Cup Finals 2012, which is currently in progress in China.
Chong Wei, ranked at the top in Men’s Singles world rankings, is leading the Malaysian team as a captain and is determined to earn his point for the team while playing in the opening fights in all matches.
The World Number one is fully aware that current Malaysian squad in weak as compared to the previous squads for Thomas Cup but he still believes that a good team work can help them to rise on the occasion and achieve their target of reaching in semi-final
of the event.
Chong Wei has been playing terrific badminton for the last few years and is one of the best players in the world who has the courage and skill to beat all top shuttlers including his Chinese rivals.
While talking about Malaysia’s national squad and their prospects in the Thomas Cup, Chong Wei said that every shuttler needs to give his hundred percent by putting in extra effort.
He also showed his confidence to fulfil his responsibility as a captain and is determined to win his fights in all matches.
Chong Wei said, "We don't have a strong squad and we have nothing to lose. All the players must fight till the end. I am willing to accept the responsibility and contribute the first point while the other players must also battle all the way.”
He added, "They shouldn't just give up when playing against superior opponents. If the players are willing to work hard, we can achieve the semi-final target while the final could be the bonus for us.”
Malaysia has been placed in Group C along with South Africa and Denmark. The Malaysian shuttlers need to remain at the top in their group in order to avoid an encounter against China at the quarter-final stage.
However, Chong Wei is not afraid of China as he is confident that if Malaysian shuttlers work extra hard then they can also shake the boat of Chinese line-up.
