Lee Chong Wei wants more resting hours between training sessions – Badminton news
Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei wants more resting hours between training sessions as he said that it will help him to put extra effort while maintaining quality.
The World Number 1 Chong Wei, who is getting treatment of his shoulder injury and is not in full swing yet, wants coaches to change his training timing as according to him, it will help him in getting ready to put an extra effort during training sessions.
In a bid to win Malaysia’s first ever gold medal at Olympic Games, Chong Wei wants to remain focused and also desires to become hundred percent fit.
While talking about the change in training timings, Chong Wei said that he will talk to his coaches in this regard.
He said, "I will propose this to the coaches as the change will give me sufficient rest in between training sessions and also help me put in quality effort.”
However, he also mentioned that the changed time of training sessions is expected to be practiced after India Open Super Series, which will be held in New Delhi, India, from April 24-29.
Chong Wei added, "I hope the change can start after the India Open (on April 24-29)."
The Malaysian mega star failed to win his third successive title in All England Open Premier Super Series 2012 because he got a shoulder injury which shattered his dream of completing a hat-trick in Birmingham.
However, despite feeling the pain earlier, he decided to play the title match against China’s Lin Dan.
Chong Wei played well in the opening game and also managed to remain close to his opponent.
However, the Malaysian could not execute his powerful smashes because of his shoulder injury and kept on relying on his pushes and half-court semi-smashes. He lost the first game with a tight margin.
In the second set, his pain started to aggravate and he had to quit from playing. He lost the match with a 19-21 and 2-6 margin.
Currently, he is back on training after remaining away from the court for 10 days. He is looking forward to perform well in Thomas Cup Finals and Olympic Games, which is his ultimate target.
