Lee Chong Wei wants to remain healthy and fit for Olympic Games 2012 – Badminton news
Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei wants to remain in top fitness for the Olympic Games 2012 as he knows that he cannot do much with his skills which are already touching the highest class in the game.
In the arena of badminton, the World Number 1 Chong Wei has earned a respectable name and is currently bidding for his first ever gold medal in Olympic Games.
Chong Wei is looking forward to remain fit for the mega event as it is the most important thing for him.
However, he also said that he is feeling a slight pain in his shoulder again and may withdraw from the ongoing Malaysia Open GP Gold if it creates any trouble.
He said, “The next three months are crucial. I can’t do much as far as my skills are concerned but I need to stay healthy. There is a slight pain in my shoulder again. I may withdraw if it becomes uncomfortable, the most important right now is to arrive
in London fully fit.”
According to the latest world rankings, Chong Wei will be top seed in Olympics and his major challengers will be three shuttlers from China including the ruling Olympic Champion Lin Dan, Chen Long and Chen Jin.
Jin has recently qualified for Olympics as he won three out of four tournaments in the last couple of months and got the fourth position in the world placements.
While talking about China three shuttlers in the main draw of Olympic Games, Chong Wei said that they have been successful in their planning to grab all three spots in Men’s Singles category.
He added, “China must be very happy because they have a strong cast for the Games. Their strategy to get Chen Jin in has worked. One of them will be in my half when the draw is made on July 23. Let’s wait and see who that will be.”
Chong Wei failed to defend his title at India Open last week when he lost to Korea’s Shon Wan Ho in three games.
However, he was having his shoulder pain in his mind and could not play his normal game.
Now, he wants to remain physically fit and healthy to live up to expectations in Olympic Games.
