Lee Chong Wei wins third successive Men’s Singles title at the Indonesia Open Premier Super Series
Malaysia’s most successful shuttler, Lee Chong Wei, clinched his third successive Men’s Singles title in Indonesia, by winning the Indonesia Open Premier Super Series 2011. He defeated Peter Hoeg Gade of Denmark in the final battle of the event, at Jakarta,
Indonesia, on Sunday, June 26.
The 28-year-old Chong Wei, who is also enjoying the World Number One position in the Men’s Singles world rankings, played an incredible game and trounced the Danish in straight-sets with a stunning margin.
The Malaysian took only 31 minutes to hammer Peter Gade without showing any mercy in the straight-set final match. The score of this one-sided encounter was 21-11 and 21-7.
After winning the title-match, Chong Wei said, "I played confidently and wasn't affected at all by the spectators. Peter is certainly a good player... But we've played against each other 14 times so I knew how he would play his game."
In their 14 head-to-head meetings, Lee Chong Wei has won 13 times against Gade, who is one of the most experienced and stylish player in the world of badminton. The 34-year-old Danish failed to match the speed of the impressive Malaysian, who was stunning
in the court.
In the opening game, the Danish started well but after a few moments, Chong Wei took control of the game and rushed to finish the first game with a wonderful difference of 21-11, in just 18 minutes.
In the second game, the Malaysian hero worked even better, where he pushed his opponent on the back foot by playing an extremely aggressive game. Peter Gade found himself completely helpless against the sharp reflexes of Chong Wei, who was playing at his
best.
Chong Wei entertained the crowd with his perfectly placed jump smashes. He was playing on a different level which was completely out of Peter Gade's reach, who was struggling to match the speed of the top seed. Chong Wei finished the game in tremendous fashion
with a surprising margin of 21-7, by taking only 13 minutes.
