Hamburg’s technical director, Lee Congerton, thanked Wrexham FC for his development.

Lee Congerton started off as a footballer, like his father he played for Rhyl FC. He also had short spells at Crewe, Colwyn Bay and Weymouth.
Unfortunately the Welshman’s playing career was cut shot due to injuries, which eventually forced him to hang up his boots. After retiring as a player, Lee got his first coaching gig thanks to Wrexham FC and their manager Brian
Flynn, who gave the Rhyl born player his first coaching assignment.
Lee worked hard to get to the Academy Director position, but had to quit his role at Wrexham FC to join his boyhood club Liverpool, whom he supported since he was just a kid.
Having played at professional level for a while, the Hamburg chief revealed that he enjoyed coaching more than playing football. In his eyes, teaching football was a much more noble art than playing the sport itself.
“I enjoyed my football, but I realised I enjoyed coaching more,” he is quoted as saying in an interview.
After http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Hamburg in a similar role. He revealed that from all of his jobs, he learnt the most from Wrexham FC, where he worked his up to the director’s office.
The Welshman claimed his duties ranged from driving the bus to looking after the pitches. At the Dragons, he was also responsible for coaching most of the team except the senior side.
“Wrexham was fantastic in terms of my education – from driving the bus to making sure the pitches were okay,” he added.
The former Dragons’ player reckons that the time he spent at Wrexham contributed a lot towards his development as a technical director. In his opinion, the problems he tackled at the Welsh Club prepared him to do well at a big
club; he credits the club for all his success.
“It was a great apprenticeship; I had a lot of responsibility at Wrexham. I had to deal with strong characters. Being able to deal with those things has enabled me to do quite well in my short career so far, and I’m very thankful
to Wrexham,” he further added.
Now Lee and Frank Arnesen have a massive task at hand, their club Hamburg were poor last season. Now they have to use their expertise in the transfer market to identify players who can lift the club.
