Lee Hyun Il eases into Men’s Singles second round of the 2011 Chinese Taipei Open – Badminton news
Korea’s Lee Hyun Il eased into the Men’s Singles second round after trouncing Macau’s Io Meng Lei in the first round of the ongoing 2011 Chinese Taipei Open on Wednesday, September 7, at Sinjhuang City in Chinese Taipei.
The Korean Veteran has been playing remarkable badminton for the last one year as his major aim is to qualify for the upcoming 2012 London Olympics. His intention in the current event is to earn maximum possible points for getting a good place in the Olympic
Games.
He played quite comfortably against Meng Lei in the first round match and finished it in straight games by taking just 16 minutes in the court. He showed no mercy to Macau’s shuttler by playing to his full potential and marched into the second round without
facing any problem from his opponent in the opening match.
World Number 13 ranked shuttler, Lee Hyun, is number three seed in the Men’s Singles draw of the Taipei Open. He opened his campaign in confident fashion and progressed in the first game quite easily. He was playing on the highest level of the game and his
rival was clearly lacking the speed to deal with the powerful strokes of the Korean effectively.
Lee Hyun created a big gap in the start and maintained it easily as his challenger was lacking the finishing touch in his strokes. The Korean tested all of his strokes to know the conditions of the hall. He clinched the opening set with incredible ease by
a stunning margin of 11-6 in just 8 minutes.
Meng Lei tried to play better in the second set but his opponent was far better in all aspects of the game. The higher ranked Korean continued his dominance in the encounter and ended it in just 8 minutes with a 21-6 score on the board. This Men’s Singles
first round battle finished in just 16 minutes, in which the Korean emerged as the winner with a big margin of 21-6 and 21-6.
