Lee McAllister beats Isaac Quartey for Lightweight title – Boxing news
The Scottish professional boxer, Lee ‘The Aberdeen Assassin’ McAllister won a unanimous points decision over the Lightweight contender, Isaac Quartey of Ghana in their 12-round Lightweight crown on June 11, 2011 at the Beach Ballroom in Scotland, United
Kingdom.
McAllister won the Commonwealth (British Empire) Light Welterweight title in the process. All the three judges gave the scorecards in the favour of McAllister as 120-108, 120-108, and 120-108.
The former lightweight and light-welterweight champion, Lee McAllister has now recorded his name in the Scottish boxing history as the only person to hold two Commonwealth titles at the same time.
The 28-year-old, McAllister fought 31 of his total fights of which he won 29 competitive bouts including 6 knockout wins with 2 losses and no draws in his professional boxing career.
McAllister is currently the Commonwealth (British Empire) Lightweight champion and Commonwealth (British Empire) Light Welterweight champion. McAllister claimed the Commonwealth (British Empire) Lightweight title by winning a technical knockout decision
over Godfred Sowah of Ghana in 2009 at the Beach Ballroom in Scotland, United Kingdom.
He then made the first successful defence of his Commonwealth Lightweight title when he went against Paul King in 2009 at the Beach Ballroom in Scotland, United Kingdom. It was McAllister’s 5th consecutive victory against the best Lightweights
of his division.
McAllister’s manager and promoter Tommy Gilmour believes that McAllister will be facing his next opponent for a European title shot in Aberdeen, Scotland.
The inexperienced boxing prospect, Isaac Quartey has been very disappointing since he joined boxing as a profession.
Quartey fought 15 of his total fights of which he won only 7 bouts including 2 knockout wins with 7 losses and one draw in his professional boxing career. Quartey should definitely review his past performance after this defeat before going for his next opponent.
