Lee Mossop hoping to recover for Sunday’s fixture against Warrington Wolves
Lee Mossop, one of the two injured players from the Challenge Cup winners Wigan Warriors, is hoping to recover in time to be part of the Wigan’s next clash that is scheduled in a week’s time against the Warrington Wolves, on September 4th.
Mossop sustained his shoulder injury during the initial stint of the final showdown of the Carnegie Challenge Cup on August 27 but soon returned to the field after getting his dislocated shoulder pushed back into the socket during the second-half of the
game.
Wigans celebrated their 28-18 victory over the underdog, Leeds Rhinos, at Headingley Stadium, in Wembley and realised their Challenge Cup dream after sixteen years. They also bid farewell to their two-year coach, Michael Maguire, who was pleased with the
outcome.
Mossop also missed last year’s grand final against St. Helens, after going through a similar shoulder injury. He is hoping that last year’s episode is not in store for this year too.
According to him he was only on-field for just five minutes before his shoulder came off after he was caught in the tackle, which he called a “normal tackle”.
While speaking about his dislocated shoulder, Mossop added, “Fingers crossed it's not going to be as bad as last time. It went back in easy enough so hopefully, with a bit of rehab, I can get through to the end of the season. I'm hoping I can play on Sunday.
If I can get a good week of rehab and the shoulder settles down, I can't see why not."
Mossop shared Wembley’s significance to him and unveiled what it meant to him personally and stated, “It's the biggest game of my life and I wasn't going to miss that for anything. I said in the weeks building up to this that I owe a lot to my parents and
that was going through my mind."
He further shared that this day was special for him as it was his dad's birthday. Therefore despite the major injury he brave it out and is still all set for Wigan's next clash.
