Lee Spick, Adam Duffy beat Steve Judd and Shahram Changezi – World Snooker Q School
Favourites Lee Spick and Adam Duffy have surged into the third round of the World Snooker Qualifying School Event 2 after defeating Steve Judd and Shahram Changezi respectively in the second round on Friday, May 20, 2011 at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.
Lee Spick 4-2 Steve Judd
The Spick-Judd encounter was one of the thrilling matches of the day where Spick edged past Judd with a convincing score line of 4-2.
Spick went 0-1 down early after the first frame when Judd took it 46-70. However, Spick did not take any pressure as he responded brilliantly with a terrific century knock of 116 in the second frame to clinch it in one visit by 116-0 and pull level at 1-1.
The Englishman Spick took the next two frames easily at 83-7 and 109-13 firing two sensational knocks of 77 and 109 before Judd got his second frame victory at 39-58 to take the score line at 3-2. Spick faced a tough resistance from Judd in the sixth frame
but somehow he managed to bounce back and win the frame by 66-43.
The overall score line of the match was 46-70, 116-0 (Spick 116), 83-7 (Spick 77), 109-13 (Spick 109), 39-58 (Judd 32) and 66-43 (Spick 36).
Shahram Changezi 1-4 Adam Duffy
The Pakistani potter Changezi showed a great potting display against the Chinese Zhang Anda in the first round of Q School but could not make the same impact against England’s Duffy.
The Englishman Duffy completely unsettled the South Asian after the first two frames.
A decent 36-point clearance from Duffy in the first frame brought him one frame up over Changezi at 1-0 followed by the Pakistani’s superb half-century knock of 57 to equalise at 1-1. After the score levelled, Duffy did not let his opponent do any damage
as he took three consecutive frames by 69-32, 86-36 and 69-53 to win the match.
The frame scores of the match were 60-14 (Duffy 36), 50-75 (Changezi 57, Duffy 47), 69-32 (Duffy 66), 86-36 (Duffy 34) and 69-53 (Changezi 53, Duffy 41).
