Lee-Waters/ Moulton-Levy dump Dekmeijere/ Mueller to reach the semis – Bell Challenge 2011
Fourth seeded Americans Lindsay Lee-Waters and Megan Moulton-Levy eased past Latvian American pair of Liga Dekmeijere and Alexandra Mueller in straight sets at the Bell Challenge 2011, an indoor hard court event from the WTA tour
taking place in Quebec, Canada. They registered a 6-2, 6-3 success over their unseeded rivals to secure a semi-final spot on Friday.
The Americans high spiritedly entered the Canadian hard courts where they showed their class to dump Dekmeijere and Mueller in under an hour on their first face-to-face.
Waters and Levy got the critical break in the opening game and confidently held their entire serve through perfect co-ordination and angled shots. They managed to convert another breakpoint chance to their advantage to win the
opener with a 6-2 score line. The higher ranked Americans produced a poor first serve share but registered a spectacular 82 percent win on it. Spicing the set further, they saved both breakpoints faced and converted two out of seven breakpoint opportunities
to their advantage.
The seeds kept the momentum flowing into the final set and held their opening serve in the second game to level the scores at 1-1. After the Latvian American tandem held their serve in the fifth game, Waters and Levy went on savage
mode to reel off next four games in a row and clinched the set with a 6-3 win. With their brilliant performance, they faced zero breakpoint and cashed in on both breakpoint chances to their advantage. The blooming Americans also clobbered a fascinating first
serve share of 89 percent as opposed to their opponents’ 67 percent and earned an 82 percent win on it.
They will next face the American Georgian duo of Jamie Hampton and Anna Tatishvili who reached this spot after battling past Slovenian American pair of Petra Rampre and Chichi Scholl in a three setter nail biter match.
Hampton and Tatishvili booked this spot earlier today after registering a brutal 6-2, 5-7, 10-7 score line in one hour and twenty-two minutes. They saved seven out of nine breakpoints faced and converted three out of eight chances
to their advantage to help advance into the title match.
