Lee Westwood fails to grasp his first major win yet again, the US Open ends with Westwood still looking for his lost ball!
The US Open saw many great golfers exiting the tournament in embarrassing manner but one man left the US Open with the most hilarious situation possible.
Lee Westwood not only missed his chance to secure his first ever major win but exhibited a bizarre show of unbelievable bad luck.
The day started off well, as Westwood was keeping his consistency intact and gave a few good starting swings. Out of nowhere, Westwood hit the ball that got stuck inside a pine tree and never came back.
It was hilarious to witness the 39-year-old looking for his golf ball in the pine tree with a pair of binoculars, as photographers caught the incident on their cameras.
“You've got to cut that corner and try to hold it up against that slope, because the fairway is so severe... So I thought I'd hit the perfect line, but it ended getting stuck up in the pine needles, and we couldn't find it,” said the troubled golfer.
Westwood is considered as one of the best golfers in the world, who still has not been able to pull off a major championship.
He has been consistent with his play and ranks 3rd in the world rankings but has not gone beyond that.
Bad luck is the new name for Lee Westwood. The pine tree incident has been in headlines as the most humorous event the world of golf has ever displayed. Unluckily, it had to be the world number 3.
Tiger Woods, on the other hand, is also among the prominent names that left the US Open with disappointment. Woods was expected to make a comeback with a win at the tournament but he failed to deliver.
It was in 2008, when we last witnessed Woods winning a major title that came in the form of the US Open. It has been 4 years now that Woods has not won any major title to his credit.
Webb Simpson stood tall among legends and lifted the US Open trophy this week. The 26-year-old seemed pleased and is looking forward to becoming the best in the world.
As far as Lee Westwood is concerned, he will have to wait for another day because his ball getting lost on a pine tree is beyond bad luck, its fate.
