Lee Westwood going through ups and downs
Lee Westwood is one of the best players in modern day golf. He is one of the players who have proven themselves time and again.
Westwood turned professional in the year 1993 and till now, has bagged 39 professional wins. Out of these 39 wins, 2 are on the PGA Tour, 22 are on the European Tour, 4 are on the Japan Tour, 6 are on the Asian Tour, 3 are on the Sunshine Tour and 1 on the
PGA Tour of Australia.
Westwood is one of those players who has touched the number one spot in the world ranking and has never won a major tournament. Nonetheless, he has managed a top-ten finish in every major.
He is considered one of the best but every rise has fall and likewise, Westwood also had a fall. He does not seem his usual self and has not being playing as he used to.
Recently there have been a few rumours going around about Westwood that he is retiring from golf. The 39-year-old hesitated to admit that he is thinking to leave golf.
In an interview, he joked about being a football player instead of a golfer, he said, “If I ever contemplated quitting the game, I wouldn’t have thought about it for long. I did have a low point just after the turn of the century when things didn’t go according
to plan”.
“But golf is my only source of income and I was too old to try to play left wing for my favourite football team, Nottingham Forest. That’s football played with your feet,” he added.
Westwood ruled out any plans of leaving the game. On the other end, his father John said that once he was close to leaving it all. He also claimed that Lee Westwood said that he is not enjoying golf.
Brian Davis, a native of London said that there came a time before when Westwood was planning to leave and he is not to be blamed for anything.
Davis said, “Going from the top to the bottom and then back to the top is pretty amazing. There’s not many people who could do that, I can assure you. I don’t think anyone could”.
Westwood has a tremendous effect on the people and still has many fans. He still has a few good years and can easily bounce back during this time.
