Lee Westwood ignores critics and remains focused on golf – Golf News
World’s top ranked golfer, Lee Westwood, is being asked questions and many people are still waiting for him to win a major championship. He is the world number one, but does not have a single major victory
in his career.
Westwood is of the view that he deserves to be the top ranked player in the world. He is now a day away preparing for the Ballantine’s Championship which will take place from Thursday. The Englishman said
that winning a major championship and world number one are two different aspects of the story.
The 38-year-old from England wants to keep his focus towards golf. He does not want to distract himself from the questions that arise about him winning a major. He recently celebrated his birthday and
won the Indonesian Masters last week. It was a great victory for the Englishman who won by a good margin of three strokes.
Westwood said, "The amount of times I have to answer it gets on my nerves. This might be the very last time I could be answering this question. It could be no comment after this. The world rankings and
major championships are two completely separate things."
Westwood reclaimed his number one spot from German Martin Kaymer. Luke Donald also had a chance of becoming the top ranked golfer as he failed to win The Heritage tournament.
There always have been a lot of questions regarding Westwood and his failure to win a major. The veteran has always avoided such questions and kept his concentration on golf rather than answering questions.
Westwood is now hoping to add another victory to his career by winning the BMW PGA Championship. He also has a good chance of further gaining points to strengthen his grip on the ranking.
Lee also is now focusing hard to keep up to the expectations of his fans. Now that he is the top ranked player in the world, all eyes will be on him to win the tournament. He already has a total of twenty
European Tour victories in his career and is confident of adding another one to his name.
Westwood is coming off from good form as he won in Indonesia. He is confident of carrying his form in this tournament also.
