Lee Westwood takes a comfortable five stroke lead as the third round of the Indonesian Masters comes to a close
Lee Westwood is comfortably perched at the top of the leaderboard as the third round of the Indonesian Masters comes to a close in Jakarta. He added another blistering round of 6 under par 66 to take a whopping five-stroke lead ahead of the field.
Westwood was unable to complete his second round on Friday due to lightning and came back today to finish his final two holes. He added another birdie to his tally of eight in the second round to finish with a score of 6 under par 66. Add to this his solid
performance in the first round where he shot a 4 under par 68 and he might just have every chance to reclaim his World No. 1 ranking.
Bangladeshi golfer Siddikur, who shot a sparkling 66 in his first round to lead Westwood by two strokes had fallen back to a three way tie for fifth place after finishing his third round with a score three under par 69.
At second place with a score a total score of 11 under par is Thai golfer Thitiphun Chuayprakong. At the start of the round Thitiphun was placed at fourth place after finishing his second round with a score of 68, matching his score on the first round. He
finished the third round with a 3 under par 69 and is now tied at second place with Korean golfer Park Hyun-bin.
Park started the day tied for second place but could not maintain his first and second round momentum, which saw him take the clubhouse lead yesterday along with Malaysia’s Shaaban Hussein. The Korean managed a two under par 70 and is still very much in
contention though.
Park had little to despair when you compare him to Hussein however. While both of them shared the second place at the close of the second round today, Hussein struggled with the ball in the third round and faltered to a three over par 75 to sit in a tie
for 13th place. But if he can recreate his form of the first two rounds, in which he shot a 68 and 67, he might yet give himself a reasonable shot.
