Lee Westwood’s caddie, Bill Foster makes a statement
World’s Number one caddie Bill Foster said that Lee Westwood is not worried about lack of a major victory. He said that the day is not far when Lee will breakthrough and win his first major.
"In four out of his last five majors he's finished in the top three and all he's got to do is keep doing more of what he is doing," said Foster.
Foster said it is not likely that Westwood will encounter the same fate in all the majors as he did this year. In addition, Harry Houdini will not be going to pitch up all the time as he did in the Masters this year. All Westwood
has to do is keep putting like he does and his time will eventually come.
Bill says that working with Westwood is very fun. The way Lee handles himself on the course under all the pressure is legendary. Foster said that it is like working for your best friend; that is how relaxed Lee is.
"He always seems to bounce back after a couple of days, that's the beauty of Lee. He's very down to earth and level headed and he doesn't let things bother him too much," he added.
It is a good thing for Foster that Westwood does not take any of the frustration or anger out on him. Foster, however, says that most of the time the world number one is relaxed.
Foster and Westwood have been working together since eighteen months now and have had many special moments. One event that Bill clearly remembers is at the 2009 Dubai World Championship. This event stands out in Bill’s memory since
it was when his role as a caddie became very crucial.
Foster recalls that it was at that moment Westwood began to doubt himself, whether it was due to lack of major wins or some other reason. Looking at the scenario, Westwood still has won more tournaments that Martin Kaymer, Ross
Fisher or Rory McIlroy combined. Foster reassured him that it was they, who needed to be intimidated by Lee and not the other way around.
Foster is one of the best caddies right now and has worked with golf legends such as Sergio Garcia, Tiger Woods and Seve Ballesteros. Foster appreciates his relationship with Westwood and hopes to be there for him every step of
the way.
