Lee Yong Dae and Ha Jung Eun ease into Mixed Doubles second round of the China Masters Super Series
Korea’s Mixed Doubles couple of Lee Yong Dae and Ha Jung Eun started their journey with a straight-set win over Hanbin He and Bao Yixin of China in the Mixed Doubles first round of the 2011 China Masters Super Series, in China, on Wednesday, September 14.
The Koreans proved that they are the best in the business as they delivered an impressive performance and won the match in straight games by taking just 37 minutes. The Chinese duo played well in the opening set and stretched the Koreans by remaining close
until the end of the opening set. However, the Korean couple played well in the end and won the match.
The first set of this Mixed Doubles contest was thrilling, as both sides displayed their wonderful skills and variations. The Koreans were fast in picking the bird but the Chinese duo executed powerful jump smashes.
The support of the local crowd helped the Chinese pair to play with passion and they troubled their rivals by returning the bird in effective areas of the Koreans’ court. At the interval, the local shuttlers were quite close to their opponents by reaching
10-11.
After the break, the Koreans dominated the game at the net by keeping the bird low and hitting shots close to the net. However, the Chinese shuttlers were also quick in returning the bird from the net in the gaps. The score reached at 20-20 when the Koreans
played positive and fast badminton to win the opening game by a 22-20 margin.
In the following set, Yong Dae and Jung Eun played on the highest level of the game and dictated the pace of the rallies. The Chinese couple failed to cope up with the pace of the rallies and committed many mistakes in the set.
The Korean duo finished the second game in convincing fashion with a 21-15 margin. This Mixed Doubles first-round battle ended with a 22-20 and 21-15 score on the board. The winning pair will now contest in the second round of the event.
