Lee eager to make playing XI against Sri Lanka despite broken foot - Cricket News Update
Ace Australian pace bowler, Brett Lee is raring to go in Friday’s last league match of the Commonwealth Bank series against Sri Lanka despite his broken foot.
The 35-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 speedster sustained a fracture on his right foot during Australia’s T20 loss against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), early last month. Lee had sustained the injury while attempting to field the ball with his right
foot in the last over of his spell, and was initially ruled out of action for six months at least.
But the speedster put the injury behind him and made an astonishing comeback inside two weeks, against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 at Sydney on February 17. He has featured in Australia’s last four tri-series league matches and does not want to be rested in the ensuing four
match either.
Speaking to media reporters ahead of the last league match of the Commonwealth Bank Series, Lee said that his foot is still in a bad condition but it would not stop him from going and performing at Melbourne on Friday, March 2, 2012.
"It's still broken," said Lee of his foot. "I had an x-ray yesterday but the show must go on. You've got to do these things when you're playing for your country...I haven't thought about [not playing on Friday],” he added further.
Rookie http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 earlier this year, has recently been recalled into the side, after a two-month long injury layoff. The Aussie selectors must be eager to see how
good the young pace bowler is after the injury layoff, in which case any of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Lee-c48419 will need to be rested. However, Lee is satisfied with his performance in the last four tri-series games and hopes he won't be the one making
way for Pattinson.
“Hopefully I've been doing my job and playing some decent cricket. I'm not a selector and I'll never be a selector. I'm just focused on what I'm trying to do, lead the attack," said the speedster.
Tomorrow’s match is not of much importance for the hosts as they have already qualified for the series finals, but Sri Lanka would have to win the match at any cost, if they are to proceed into the best of three finals.
