Lee praises Gambhir’s captaincy – Cricket News Update

“I am impressed. He is a very structured player, someone who likes to take on opposition. Off the field, he likes to have a joke with his teammates. More importantly, I think he is respected for his fairness,” Lee said while talking to the

“It can be a challenge to lead men from different countries but Gambhir has acquitted himself well.”
The franchise had failed to win the tournament since its inception in 2008 – however, after having finished 6th, 8th, and 6th again in the 2008, 2009, and 2010 editions of the tournament respectively, they managed to move
up and finished at the respectable spot of number 4 in 2011, when Gambhir was appointed captain.
The Knight Riders came into the 2012 season fighting, and after finishing at number 2 on the league points table, finally lifted their maiden IPL title this year, after securing a 5-wicket victory over the Chennai Super Kings in the tournament final on May
27.
Gambhir, who had been among his side’s most consistent scorers throughout the tournament, failed to contribute more than 2 runs, but some effective hitting by Manvinder Bisla (89) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JH-Kallis-c1692 (69) enabled the team to secure the all-important victory.
However, when commenting on the win, the skipper had refused to give credit to a single player, saying the win had been a team effort.
“… there will be no single day when the credit goes to an individual. Victory always belongs to the team,” the left-hander had insisted.

Gambhir has yet to serve as the national Test captain, but was appointed ODI skipper from November 2010 to December 2011, during which the team was victorious in all of the six matches they played.
