Leeds Rhinos secure services of Richard Moore for three years
Yorkshire based English professional Rugby League football club, Leeds Rhinos has announced the signing of talented back row forward, Richard Moore, to strengthen their squad for the upcoming seasons.
Officials at the club have confirmed the signing of the prop Moore on a three-year deal, in a statement released on their website on Friday, August 12.
This new long-term deal will allow former Rhinos academy player to remain at the club, until the end of their 2014 Super League campaign. Moore will join the Rhinos at the end of the 2011 Super League season, from the professional Rugby League side, Crusaders.
Earlier, Crusaders have withdrew their application from 2012 – 14 Super League Licensing procedure, following which number of their players have  part way with the club to secure their future by playing elsewhere.
Leeds Rhinos head coach Brian McDermott added has expressed his delight on securing the services of the impressive prop.
He added, “He (Moore) is very dynamic and has the game to break down defences.”
McDermott termed Moore as a perfect replacement from their outgoing forward Luke Burgess.
He further added, “He (Moore) has been on a journey in his career and never wanted to leave Leeds in the first place. Whenever I have coached against him, he is always someone you tip up because he is a constant threat to opposition.”
The 30-year-old Moore has expressed his excitement on rejoining the Leeds Rhinos. He termed the current contact as “great opportunity” as it has made it possible for him to play for the professional senior Rhinos squad. He added that he is lucky enough to
get a second chance to play at the club, as Leeds usually do not offer contracts to the players who left them.
Commenting further Moore admitted that the presence of the quality props in the Leeds’ squad means that he needs to be at the top of his game from the day one with the club.
He said, “I know I will have my work cut out from day one in pre-season to earn my place in the side but that is my determination.”
Moore further has expressed his hope to play and train alongside the likes of the England international Jamie Peacock.
Keighley born Moore signed his first professional senior side contract with the Bradford Bulls in 2001. He made 27 appearances for the Bulls. In 2004, he played 14 games for the London Broncos and scored 2 tries.
In 2005, Moore joined the Leigh Centurions, where he made 17 appearances for them and scored 20 points. In 2007, he signed a long-term deal with the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
During his three-year long stay at the Wildcats, Moore played 101 games for Wildcats and scored 36 points.
In 2011, he signed a two-year contract with the Crusaders. He admitted that the players had this feeling that the club might withdraw their application from the Super League competition.
