Leeds Rhinos sign two new hookers with departure of Danny Buderus – Rugby League
Paul McShane and Liam Hood have been taken on board by the Leeds Rhinos after the pair signed new four-year deals. The new recruits are making their way in to the team after the exit of Danny Buderus. The players penned the new contracts on Wednesday, September 28 to the delight of coach Brian McDermott.
While speaking to reporters about the recent recruits, Leeds’ head coach stated that the duo’s inclusion within Leeds’ ranks is definitely good news for the squad. .
The coach further added, “We all know the quality of Paul. He is in a period of biding his time at the moment, but he has proved he is a fella who can handle Super League. Liam Hood is a fella who has got all the traits and qualities to be part of the first team.”
Both signings are getting good acceptance from different quarters, which also includes Leeds assistant coach, Jimmy Lowes, who believes that the pair has the potential to be amongst the top players of the future.
He further added that the duo has a lot more to give to the squad, especially while working with Buderus. He also shared that both players will be competing for their inclusion in the first teamfor the following season, which will only heighten the level of game played by the players.
Both players are very excited about their new four-year deals. The 19-year-old Hood is looking forward to make his Super League debut in order to grow as a professional rugby player with Leeds. He also admitted that he loves being with Leeds and did not ever wish to join elsewhere. All he is hoping for is his is to get his name listed in the first team for next season.
McShane also admitted that by the renewal of his existing contract, which still entitled a year more from him, he feels a new boost of confidence. While referring to the latest four-year contract, the player mentioned that the leap of faith shown by the club had taken him by surprise because he was still left with a year before his previous contract expired.
