Leeds captures London's Fury
Leeds have beaten off competition from a number of other clubs to secure the signature of London Wasps player Warren Fury.
Fury will join Leeds on a two-year deal, which looks set to be the main move that he will make during the rest of his career. Fury has impressed many during his relatively short career and he has appeared regularly for Wales.
Many are saying that this move will help Leeds greatly next season as they have been looking for a solid option in the scrum-half position. They have already signed a few players during the close season and they are starting to shape up nicely for the new campaign.
But it's important to consider Fury's total game in order to judge the impact he'll have. Also, Fury will be dealing with more pressure than he has ever dealt with after signing this new contract.
Attributes
Fury's game is all about pace and skill. He is very quick across the turf and likes to do everything much faster than normal in the Premiership. This is very difficult to play against because if a player is moving fast it means the ball is too.
At 24 he is still very young and this will be displayed through his youthful energy and enthusiasm. He can make this spread across the rest of the team and as long as he does not appear too egotistical he will become very popular for this.
He has got plenty of ambition to go on and play for Wales many more times during his career. This means he will be determined to do well at Leeds and use them as a platform back into international rugby. This means that the fans of the club do not have to worry about his desire or whether he'll have the occasional lazy match.
Pressure
Pressure is everywhere in rugby and Fury will not be able to avoid it at his new club. It can come in a variety of forms as he'll be focused on by the TV, radio and print media who will all want to hear from Leeds' fantastic new young signing.
He has looked a little vulnerable to this part of the game in the past although he has often dealt with it well. People will be looking directly at him to make a big impact once the new season starts and it's important he can take it all under his wing.
He has to show initiative and Leeds have enough experience all over the squad if Fury needs some help. The older and more experienced players may in fact step up and purposefully protect their new player, regardless of whether he wants this or not.
Betting Advice
Leeds will be very hard pushed to win the title next season so if you want to back them in the Premiership then go for a mid-high table finish. There will be points during the season where the team just come up against a better side and they won't be able to produce something different to win the match.
Fury is a very good candidate to score some points during Leeds' games due to the player attributes and qualities he possesses. Back him to score a few tries and points during the course of the season. You can do this on a match to match basis or bet based on the whole season although there are other candidates who could score more points than he does over the year.
