Left 4 Dead 2 DLC finally lands on the Xbox 360 – Video Games Update
The long awaited ‘Cold Stream’ downloadable content (DLC) for the zombie co-op shooter Left 4 Dead 2 has finally been released for the Xbox 360 after being delayed for some time.
This DLC is a combination of user created levels and has been in development for over a year. The PC and the Mac version of the Cold Stream DLC was finally released on July 24, 2012 but Xbox 360 gamers were disappointed to learn that the console version
of the DLC has been pushed back for an entire week.
But now it seems that the wait is over as the DLC has finally hit the Xbox Live Marketplace and is available for purchase for 560 Microsoft Points which is approximately $7. Many Xbox 360 fans consider this to be unfair as DLC for Valve games is always free
on Steam but gamers will have to pay in order to get it for the Xbox 360.
Valve has clarified that Microsoft is to be blamed for this. Valve would put free DLC for Xbox 360 versions of the game if it could but Microsoft has a policy which states that no DLC on Xbox Live Marketplace will be free. Many gamers and developers alike
are against these Microsoft’s restrictive policies regarding the Xbox 360 Marketplace.
Xbox 360 gamers who purchase the ‘Cold Stream’ DLC will get five new campaigns, which consist of Crash Course, Death Toll, Dead Air, Blood Harvest and Cold Stream. Valve has also announced that the Cold Stream DLC will give gamers access to ‘Mutations’ anytime
they want; but Xbox 360 owners need to own the Passing DLC to gain access to mutations which will cost gamers another $7 if they don’t have it already.
It remains to be seen if such a late DLC release can reignite gamer interest in a three year old game. Gamers will have to wait for a while until Valve reveals the official numbers regarding how well the DLC did on the Xbox 360 as Left 4 Dead 2 performed
quite well on the console and has managed to move over 3.48 million copies since launch.
