Question:

Left brained?

Okay, so when I take quizzes, it says I'm left brained. I love reading and dogs and quiet. However, I am also creative (I think)... so am I really just not creative, or do I just have more left brained characteristics? You see, I hope I am creative... I won't try to act like I don't care. I do. Its immature, but I'm fifteen, I'll enjoy it while its lasts. Not that immaturity ever ends...

  1. Take a look at this quote:  "Creative Ideas

The creative area of the left frontal lobe rearranges words, concepts, symbols, and memories into new patterns. In effect, this allows us to think up new things to say.

When we think about something, we are usually using oral language in our mind. We can rehearse a speech, dream of a conversation, imagine a poem, and remember what someone said on the phone. We can even think with a foreign accent. Most of this goes on in the frontal lobe above our eyebrows.

Clues that this area is well-developed are indicated if a person is...

"quick-witted" -- making fast associations of ideas and words

good at improvising speech -- thinking of "what to say" impromptu

good at carrying on an "intelligent" conversation instead of "small talk"

good at philosophizing with abstract concepts -- "why do we exist?"

With that said, you may want to read the basics from the funderstanding article.  But the Hidden Talents article is what I want to emphasize because we are basically whole brain.  We have the ability to master any area with practise and the proper commitment to school.  And I think good people think a lot about what is best for them.  I believe your question is great.  Good luck.  Mike t.

  2. theres no such thing as "left brained" or "right brained" (unless u have split-brain)...everyone's left & right brains interract and work together. the reason different people use their brains differently is due to past experiences that brought them to that way of thinking. everyone can use both sides of their brains if they want to. right brain works well under stress and left brain works well at ease. this is why people say "state of mind" because if your stressed you think a certain way and if youre relaxed you think a certain way.

    me for example:

im good at math, spelling, and writing which fall under my right brain

im good at art, music, decorating, science, and love understanding everything...falls under my left brain

but i only excel at one or the other depending on how i feel mentaly

........well you can make your brain turn out however you want

  3. It's because a lot of people use both sides of their brain. It just means that you are smart and you use both sides! :) I should know, I use both too and I am logical and creative at the same time!

  4. Wait so what are you asking?

  5. Take note that majority of the population are stronger at their left brain than the right brain. That does not mean that your right brain is retarded, it basically means that your left brain is better than the right (your right brain may still be powerful). That's what makes you left-brainded.

I've tested myself in certain things and I realise that I suck at maths but stronger in visualising. So I concluded that I'm right-brainded since my right brain is better than my left.

  6. You'd like to find a test that reveals your creative side.  Have you tried the Myers-Briggs tests?  They're really fun to find in depth about your personality.

  7. I believe when you take the tests it measures how much of each side of your brain is used. If your left side is used more often, it labels you a left brainer.

If you want to open your right brain more, just get more active in creative activities and nature, and opening up to new ideas. Entertain your day dreams, even making time to just do that. Right brain isn't just creative but intuitive and philosophical also. It's ideal to have a nice balance of both logic and intuition.

  8. I'm not sure, and it may well could be. But not to worry. I'm sure you have gifts, talents, intellect for a reason, purpose, and especially goals.

  9. your just have more left brained characteristics, but if you have a creative characteristic, try to improved it, it would be better for you. i'm a right brained. hehehe nice meeting you left brained. hahahaha lol

  10. We all use both sides of our brain for different things in varying ratios unless there is a genuine pathological problem.

For a very informative (and extremely funny) take on the left/right brain debate look up books by Alan & Barbara Pease such as 'Why men don't cry and women can't read maps.'

Apart from being hilarious they really DO tell you a lot about the difference between men and women and the way our brains work. They ought to be compulsory reading from the age of fifteen!

If you want to experience the difference between left and right brain thinking then try a fantastic book on drawing called Drawing on the Right side of the Brain by Betty Edwards. If nothing else you will improve your drawing ability. (There is a website called Drawing on the right side of the brain)

  11. are u a gal or a boy? women nature are reflected by te left brain. if u r a grl its gud for u, or u want ur naure to be changed, then be practical as each boy tells about himself.

  12. All humans use both sides of their brains.  The "left brain"/"right brain" thing is just another form of the classification we humans love to engage in.

  13. You will spend the rest of your life trying to find your creative strengths. Everyone uses their creative (right brain) and reasoning abilities (left brain) to different degrees. Don't let a test tell you whether or not you are a creative person. We all have the ability to create something wonderful and unique that nobody else has ever imagined possible.
