Leg surgery ousts Houston Texans guard Mike Brisiel for four weeks – NFL News
Houston Texans’ right guard Mike Brisiel has been ruled out of current regular season of the American professional football league National Football League (NFL) due to a leg injury for a period of four weeks atleast.
It is likely that Brisiel might not be able to return this season at all and join the Texans side in their training camp next year.
The team management said that a surgery had been performed on the player's broken leg and it was expected that his injury will take three to four weeks to heal allowing him to start practicing and playing again.
Texans coach Gary Kubiak said that the player was expected to recover in a month time and re-join them.
Brisiel is the key starter for the Houston Texans on the right side. He had started for them for their last 13 games consecutively. He will miss his first game this Sunday.
He was injured in the Texans last game against the Cincinnati Bengals on past Sunday , which they won 20-19. He has not practiced since then. Reports earlier confirmed that he had broken his leg.
The Texans in the meantime announced to have promoted Antoine Caldwell to start at the Brisiel position as a right guard.
The Texans have three more games to go before closing of their current regular season. The side has already been marred with injuries to their number of key players including quarterbacks Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart.
The side however may not be as much worried from the latest injury scare given the reasons that they had already made it to playoff this season. It is first time in their franchise history that the Texans have made it to playoff.
With the win over the Bengals on the past Sunday the Texans also have become the only side so far to have won a divisional title. They have claimed the American Football Conference (AFC) south division title.
Meanwhile the Texans have not confirmed yet the status of their wide receiver Andre Johnson’s injury and his chances of return for their next weekend’s game. Johnson is out of Texans side due to a hamstring injury.
