  1. As you come around the turn, turn your horse down the quarter line instead of going all the way to the rail.  Then move your outside hand out toward the rail... don't pull on it.  Keep ahold of the inside rein so your horse's head stays straight.  Wiggle your fingers of your outside hand but don't pull back on that rein.  Put your inside leg on and step down a little deeper in your outside stirrup.  Your horse should move its whole body back to the rail, but should keep its body straight... don't let it lead with its shoulder or head... keep your horse parallel to the rail, but gradually move toward the rail.  If you need to, keep wiggling your fingers of your outside hand and bump a little with your inside leg.  Ideally your horse will cross its inside leg across his outside leg as he moves over toward the rail.
