Maurizio Beretta has criticised the Partenopei for their decision to not participate in the presentation ceremony of Italian Super Cup following their controversial defeat.
Lega President has carped http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 for their decision to boycott the presentation ceremony of the Italian Super Cup, after they lost the game in the extra-time to Juventus with the score at 4-2.
The Serie A Champions and the Coppa Italia winners met in the season starter played in Beijing, and while the game was draw at 2-2 in 90 minutes, the Partenopei lost the game match in extra-time because they were short of two players who had been sent-off.
Moreover, Walter Mazzarri was also sent-off for protesting the refereeing decisions against his team, and the Azzurri also chose against appearing in the presentation ceremony to record their protest.
Maurizio Beretta disapproved of the behaviour exhibited by the Partenopei, and criticised the approach as a shameful one by the club.
Lega President was of the view that while disappointment at the decisions and the defeat would have been a natural reaction, the response showed by Napoli was completely unwarranted.
While talking to the press, the head of the Italian football governing body said:
“It’s a shame about that epilogue. One can understand disappointment and irritation, but the fact remains the event was lacking that last little bit.”
The venue of the fixture being set in Beijing has been a matter questioned by many including Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis, but the Lega chief was adamant that the chaos had nothing to do with the match being held in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926.
Beretta praised the match organizers for the smooth organization of the game in the famous Bird’s Nest stadium, and insisted that the great support and the participation from the fans prove that the match was a successful event.
“This doesn’t take away from the validity of playing the match in Beijing. It was a very positive evening and the event was successful with great participation from the fans.”
