Has the legal drinking age in London changed to 21 years old? Someone told me it has but everywhere I ask (like Google) says no, it is still 18!

  1. "The mayor has no control over things like that, that is decided by Parliament - and would have to affect the *whole* of England and Wales (Scotland is a separate entity and they have, IMS, voted to raise the age to 21). As the LDA in the rest of England and Wales is still 18, then it's 18 in London!"

Scotland is NOT a separate entity. Dear Lord... We are still part of the Union. The SNP want the age increased to 21 in circumstances, but there has been no vote as of yet.

  2. The mayor has powers to prevent anti-social drinking (which is why he's banned alcohol on *ALL* public transport. You aren't allowed to board a train or bus with *ANY* form of alcoholic beverage, whether open or not. And having been groped three times on the Tube by drunken f*ckwits, I say it's a damned good thing!)

    Does that help...?

  3. It's 18, and I'd also like to point out you can get onto public transport with unopened alcohol, your not allowed to consume it on the public transport but the idea that you can't even get on with unopened alcohol is just silly.  How the h**l else are you meant to get the stuff home if you've no car!!!

Anyway yeah its still 18, though a lot of places are 21s or over, and most pubs ID anyone that they think looks under 21....

  4. it's 18 but some nightclubs only allow in 21 and over

  5. 18
