For my friends and my graduation we are planning on taking a trip some where to kick back and relax. Two of us will be 18 at the time, however two will be 17. I was wondering if it is at all legal to rent a room someplace since two of us are of legal age? I'd like to go someplace tourist friendly, not sketchy or known for shady things. Thanks! Oh it will only be about a 4 day trip.

  1. You will be fine!

  2. Legal age in Mexico is 18, so you should be able to rent a room without a problem. HOWEVER, beware.......... since you want to go to Cancun, you should be aware that they're so sick & tired of spring breakers in there that some hotels have more strict rules about this, and won't allow youngsters under 21 or even 25 to stay at the hotel if it's not with an adult in the same room. You might want to check with the particular hotel you want to stay at if they won't have a problem with 18 yrs old to rent the room alone (especially since ALL of you will be about the same age).... in Mexico you ARE an adult at 18 so you should be ok even if 2 of the parties are minors, but then again, Cancun is a particular case and many hotels have created these restrictions in order to avoid their premises and other guests to be affected by springbreakers. If you stay at a hostel in downtown or so you shouldn't have a problem, but a resort is totally different. Check on their websites.... you should be able to see if they have these restrictions or not before you book. Good luck.

  3. it only matters when it comes to renting the room, not staying in the room.
