Legal amount of chickens for an urban backyard?

i already have 6 chickens and im curious about expanding my flock, does anyone know the legal limit?

Also, crows keep stealing the chickens eggs everytime they lay one, so we havent had fresh eggs in about 8 months.

Any hints on how to stop the crows ? :)

To stop the crows from stealing the chicken eggs try to put or replace it with a plastic eggs with same as eggs.

If you are legally allowed to keep chickens,then you should have been told how many,if not then I would not get anymore.

Or you could loose then ones you have .

It all depends on the local bye-laws of your council,there are those that will object to you having poultry so it may be better to keep quiet.

As for the Crows fill an egg with Mustard or Tabasco and put one within easy reach,daily.

Is it a snake or possum?? Can try leaving a radio on with a talk show the voices of humans  may keep away Place some fake snakes around this could help, some birds such as the crow and sparrow have been knowen to steal eggs for there own nests so they can sit   they have even took golf balls off a course. some have even taken round rocks for this so you must have a few or 2/3 broody wild birds or could be a pair.

yes, you need to call your city or town hall and ask, even though I live in a small rural town (population around 850) it is illegal to keep livestock in the city limits.

have you tried to completely enclose your chicken yard? I think if you put chicken wire over the top then the crows couldn't get in to steal the eggs

I don't know about your crow problem but for the limit on chickens, it will vary from town to town.  Call your local city hall and ask them what the bylaw is on chickens or look it up on your city's website.
