  1. Social control is how different groups in our society have "rules" that control PEOPLES" behavior.  Social control is not Laws made by governments.  Criminal liability is where if you break the law you are liable and pay a fine or go to court/jail.

    1. social control would maybe be how people live up to the standards of their religious beliefs - moral rules .. s*x before marriage.(no arrest, just people judging you.CRIMINAL LIABILITY -  s*x with a minor.  Criminal liability means laws that people break and are arrested for or pay fines for.

    2.Another social control would be the standards set up by clubs... the Boy Scouts, Bridge Club, You have to play bridge by the rules. Criminal liability - if you were the treasurer of the club and took money you might be arrested.

    3. Social control can be the rules set up within the family.  Not doing your homework could get you grounded... Criminal liability would be if you hit your dad because he grounded you.

    4. Social control is courtesy, when you drive down the freeway and change lanes often.  Criminal Liability is when you hit a car because you changed lanes and hit a car.

    The other part of this is going to be your research;

    1.  You must do research on social issues that are against moral/social codes and you must research criminal issues personal liability.

    2.  What does the Constitution say about criminal punishment, like the death penalty.

    3.  What are the 4 defenses that an attorney should be able to work through for their client ... insanity? underage? lack of evidence?

    4.  I suppose you have to pick one Criminal Offense, get data about this crime in a city, state, and the country. What age people are committing the crime?  How many are sent to prison after a trial.

    This is a big project that you should get some direction from your professor and/or other classmates.
