Legal document for dmv....passport renewal?

when i renew my passport then go to the dmv do i show them my valid Record of Arrival/Departure (form I-94) from my old passport then show them the new one...

Yes, bring both passports. The old one with the I-94 and your visa, followed by your new passport.

If the DMV busy-bodies refuse to accept it, then ask to speak to some-one higher up or go to a different DMV. I say that because the staff in the DMV often do not the rules surrounding foreign applicants.

Make sure you also check the DMV website for your state to check what other documentation you should bring with you.
